Hajj 2027 from the UK
Hajj 2027 is expected from 14 to 19 May. UK residents book Hajj only through Nusuk Hajj: the steps, the visa, vaccinations and how to avoid scams.
Hajj 1448 is expected from Friday 14 May to Wednesday 19 May 2027 (8 to 13 Dhul Hijjah), with the Day of Arafah on Saturday 15 May and Eid al Adha on Sunday 16 May. The dates follow the sighting of the moon and may move by a day.
How to book Hajj from the UK
UK residents can book a Hajj place only through the official Nusuk Hajj platform of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, at hajj.nusuk.sa. A Hajj place offered any other way is not genuine.
In past seasons the steps have been:
- Create your Nusuk Hajj account and add everyone travelling with you.
- Upload your documents and wait for your application to be verified.
- Add funds to your Nusuk wallet.
- On the sales day, choose a package and pay for it.
Registration for Hajj 2027 has not opened yet, and registering does not guarantee a place. Nusuk Hajj announces the dates on its own site.
What you need
- A passport valid for at least 6 months after the day you arrive in Saudi Arabia.
- A Hajj visa. Hajj needs its own visa: a tourist e visa, an ETA or a visa waiver cannot be used for Hajj.
- A certificate of vaccination against meningitis ACWY, given at least 10 days before you arrive.
Read the health advice for pilgrims on TravelHealthPro and the UK government's pilgrimage advice for Saudi Arabia before you travel.
The Hajj sites
- Mina: the tent city east of Makkah, where pilgrims stay from 8 Dhul Hijjah and return after Arafah.
- Arafat: the plain of the Day of Arafah, 9 Dhul Hijjah, the heart of Hajj, with Jabal al Rahmah, the Mount of Mercy, rising from it.
- Muzdalifah: between Arafat and Mina, where pilgrims spend the night after Arafah and gather their pebbles.
- The Jamarat: the three pillars in Mina that pilgrims stone from 10 Dhul Hijjah.
- The Masjid al Haram: Tawaf al Ifadah after the stoning, and the farewell Tawaf before leaving Makkah.
Umrah around Hajj
Umrah on an e visa, ETA or visa waiver is for outside the Hajj season. During Hajj, the Saudi authorities stop visitors who are not performing Hajj from flying to Jeddah, Madinah and Taif. Plan your Umrah before or after the season: see our Umrah packages.
Before you pay anyone
The UK government warns that organised crime groups target people planning Hajj and Umrah. Research the company before you book, even when family or friends recommend it. Pay by credit card where you can, get everything confirmed in writing and ask for written terms and conditions. Report a scam to Action Fraud.
