Kilimanjaro International Airport sits between the towns of Moshi and Arusha, below Africa's highest mountain. Climbers start from Moshi, and treks to the summit usually take six to eight days.
Arusha is the starting point for northern Tanzania's safari circuit: the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara. Many travellers finish with a few days on the beaches of Zanzibar.
The main dry season runs from June to October, with a shorter dry spell in January and February.
