Whitewashed lanes, windmills and sandy beaches in the Cyclades.
Mykonos Town, or Chora, is a maze of whitewashed lanes, little churches and shops, said to have been built that way to confuse pirates. On the edge of town, the row of windmills at Kato Mili looks across to Little Venice, where houses sit right on the water's edge.
The island's beaches range from family friendly Ornos and Agios Ioannis to the beach clubs of Paradise and Psarou, and the nightlife is lively in summer.
A short boat ride away, the island of Delos was one of the great religious centres of ancient Greece and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
