Paphos, on the south west coast of Cyprus, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its ancient remains. The Paphos Archaeological Park holds remarkable Roman mosaic floors, and the Tombs of the Kings, carved into the rock, are a short ride away.

Along the coast, Aphrodite's Rock, or Petra tou Romiou, is said to be where the goddess rose from the sea. North of town, Coral Bay is a popular sandy beach, and the Akamas peninsula offers walking trails and boat trips to the Blue Lagoon.

The harbour, with its small fort, is lined with restaurants, and the winters are mild.
